DI DII Baseball implement world series changes

Charlotte, NC - Following the 2022 NJCAA Convention held in Birmingham, AL, from April 11-15, the NJCAA Board of Regents passed a number of amendments to enhance the national championship experience.  The following changes were made for DI and DII baseball.

Division I Baseball

The NJCAA DI Baseball Committee approved a proposal to implement official video review during the NJCAA DI Baseball World Series in accordance with NCAA rules.  The change will provide umpires with access to additional resources to best evaluate plays and ensure games are called accurately. Video review will be implemented for the 2023 national tournament as a two-year pilot program to evaluate the impact on the world series and gauge the viability of review on a more permanent basis.

Division II Baseball

The NJCAA DII Baseball Committee approved a proposal to expand the national tournament to a 12-team bracket.  The new format will feature 10 automatic district qualifiers and two at-large selections. The change will add up to three games to the eight-day, double-elimination world series. The expanded national tournament field will take effect during the 2024 season.
