Gray inducted into Cross Country Hall of Fame

Charlotte, NC – The NJCAA has announced one honoree to be inducted into the NJCAA Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame. One coach has been selected to join the 2024 class. Read below for more on Mike Gray. 


Mike Gray | Coach | Central Arizona 

Mike Gray was the head men's and women's cross country and track coach for Central Arizona from 1996-2010. During this span, Gray led the Vaqueros to five NJCAA national championships and coached 40 individual national champions. Throughout his career, he was named NJCAA Coach of the Year six times and led the men's cross-country team to three national championship titles and the women's to two. The Vaqueros were runners-up five times in cross country and 11 times in track and field under his leadership.  

Outside of Central Arizona, Gray volunteered with the Arizona High School Coaches Association, ACCAC Coaches Association, and was an official for local high school and college competitions. Gray was inducted into the Central Arizona Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019 and is also a member of the Wyandotte, Michigan, and Sports Hall of Fame as well as the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference Hall of Fame.
