Lady Bears Dominate In Opening Round Of NJCAA DIII National Tournament

Cranford, NJ – The No. 1 seed Dallas College Brookhaven (TX) Lady Bears dominated on the pitch in their opening-round victory of the 2020-21 NJCAA DIII Women’s Soccer Championship over Suffolk County (NY) by the score of 14-1. With the victory, the Bears remain perfect on the season with an overall record of 11-0 as they advance to the final four of the tournament. Suffolk County CC falls to 1-4 overall on the season. The defending National Champions are on a roll and have now outscored their opponents 78-1 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lady Bears lit up the scoreboard in the first half. Abigail Gutierrez, Victoria Sifuentes, Italia Avila, and Sasha Sanchez each found the back of the net twice in the first 45 minutes of play. The Lady Bears would add five more goals in the second half to secure the victory.

UP NEXT

Dallas College Brookhaven will await the winner of the No. 4 RCSJ-Gloucester/No. 5 Herkimer matchup. The two winners will play at 4:30 PM ET on Thursday, June 3 at 4:30 PM ET.

Suffolk County will slide into the consolation bracket and will battle the loser of the RCSJ-Gloucester/Herkimer matchup. This contest is slated for 11:00 AM ET on Thursday, June 3.
