Lansing Cheektowaga to serve as upcoming bowling hosts

Charlotte, NC – The Greater Lansing Sports Authority and Royal Scot Golf and Bowl in Lansing, MI were awarded the 2022 and 2024 NJCAA Men's and Women's Bowling Championships, becoming the first venue outside of the state of New York to earn a bid for the bowling championships since 1998. Cheektowaga, NY and Airport Lanes, the current host site for the 2021 championship, were awarded the 2023 and 2025 championship bids.

Hosted by Mid Michigan College, the 2022 and 2024 bowling championships will be just the second host outside of New York to feature the NJCAA bowling championships since its inception in 1971. Baltimore, MD hosted the championship tournaments from 1988-98 before returning to western New York where the tournament has been held since.

"The Greater Lansing Sports Authority (GLSA), Royal Scot Golf and Bowl, and the Lansing region as a whole are ecstatic to host this prestigious event," stated Mike Price, Executive Director of the GLSA. "The GLSA looks forward to working with our community partners and the NJCAA to provide an incredible experience for the student-athlete at this national championship event. The Greater Lansing region is passionate about the sport of bowling and that enthusiasm will be evident as we work to support the NJCAA and create a memorable event for all involved."

Erie Community College, who was previously awarded the 2021 tournament, will return as hosts in 2023 and 2025. The NJCAA institution has hosted the tournament previously from 1971-1987 and 1999-pres. A historically dominant program, Erie has captured 29 NJCAA Women's Bowling Championships and 18 men's titles throughout its storied tenure. Iowa Central captured the 2020 championship while Rock Valley (IL) earned the men's title in 2020 at Airport Lanes.

"SUNY Erie Community College is proud to continue to host the NJCAA Bowling Championships," stated Steve Mullen, Erie Director of Athletics. "NJCAA bowlers have been coming to Buffalo for their championship for more than 40 years and the tournament continues to get bigger each year. Buffalo has a strong bowling tradition and the NJCAA Championships are one of the highlights on the area bowling calendar each year."

The championship dates have been set for March 3-5, 2022, March 2-4, 2023, and February 28 - March 2, 2024 with a TBD date in 2025.
