Schenectady County repeats as national champions

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – Schenectady County (N.Y.) was crowned NJCAA women’s bowling champions Saturday afternoon at Airport Lanes, claiming the national title for the second consecutive season.

The Royals earned their program’s second national championship with a cumulative two-day pin total of 11,928. Freshman Jordan Byrnes was the top performer for Schenectady County as she bowled an average 181.5 to finish third overall in all events.

Following Schenectady County with 11,567 pins were Corning (N.Y.) and Iowa Central.

Emily Notebaert of Corning was the overall individual winner as she scored a total of 606 in singles competition. The freshman also earned a victory in the all-events competition, compiling 2,404 pins. In doubles play, Notebaert and sophomore Victoria Maracle racked up a 1,112 total to claim victory in the event.
