Charlotte, NC ‑ Rebekah Dallinger from Miles (MT) has been named the 2021 NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Year, presented by the Marines.
During her lone season with the Pioneers, Dallinger led the nation in scoring (25.8), total points (644), field goals made (212), and free throws made (163). The freshman posted four double-doubles this season and recorded nine games of 30-plus points and two games of 40-plus points. Dallinger scored a season-high 42 points against Dawson Community College on February 2, en route to being name the NJCAA Player of the Week.
Dallinger helped lead the Pioneers to a 24-2 overall record and secured a trip to the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball National Championship after winning the Region XIII Championship. The Pioneers' win over Gulf Coast State in the first round was the first ever win at the national tournament in school history.
"Rebekah is a junior college success story. She gambled on herself and used junior college to grow as a student-athlete and as a woman," said former Miles head coach Taylor Harris. "I'm so proud of her for having the belief in herself to accomplish the dreams she set out for herself when she left Australia. She plays with a joy that is so fun to be a part of, and I am excited to watch her continue that joy at the next level!"
In addition to being named Player of the Year, the Sydney native received multiple post-season awards: Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Two-Year Player of the Year, WBCA All-American, World Exposure Report Junior College Freshman of the Year, NJCAA First Team All-America recognition, Region XIII Player of the Year and MonDak Conference Most Valuable Player.
The basketball standout signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Kansas State Wildcats of the Big 12 conference next season.
