Louisburg's Jones named DII Pitcher of the Year

Charlotte, NC – Zoey Jones of Louisburg (NC) has been named the 2023 NJCAA Division II Softball Pitcher of the Year.  

Jones, an NJCAA First-Team All-America selection, earns the top honor after leading the nation with 31 wins, 1 triple allowed, and 1 sacrifice hits allowed while boasting the second-best ERA in the nation at 1.03 (25 ER/170.0 IP). Averaging over 7 strikeouts per game, the freshman helped lead the Hurricanes to their fifth-consecutive national championship appearance.

Louisburg's ace concluded the season in the top-10 of numerous statistical categories, including wins (31), triples allowed (1), sacrifice hits allowed (1), shutouts (9) and ERA (1.03). She also led the team in appearances, having thrown in 37 of Louisburg's 68 games played this season. She also had 24 games with zero earned runs this season.
