Charlotte, NC - The NJCAA has announced the upcoming locations for NJCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships. Collin College in Plano, TX will host the five-day event in 2021 and 2023. Tyler Junior College in Tyler, TX will host in 2022.
“Collin College is excited to host the NJCAA DI Men’s Tennis Championship in 2021 and 2023," said Dr. Neil Matkin, Collin College District President. "We love the opportunity to bring the top teams in community college tennis together on our courts and we look forward to seeing, and playing, some great matches.”
Collin has a rich history of hosting tennis championships, previously serving as the host to championships across three levels of NJCAA tennis. From 2003 to 2018, Collin served as the only championship host for DIII men's tennis. In 2005, the DI men's tournament moved to Plano where it was held for 14 consecutive years. Collin also hosted the DII men's championship during the division's last two years of existence in 2003 and 2004.
The 2022 NJCAA DI Men's Tennis Championship, hosted by Tyler Junior College, will be held at the JoAnn Medlock Murphy Tennis Center. Built in 2007, the Murphy Tennis Center received the USTA Outstanding Facility Award which recognizes facilities throughout the country to encourage increasingly high standards for construction and/or renovation.
Tyler Junior College has hosted numerous NJCAA championship events including DI women's tennis in 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2019, DI men's soccer in 2006-06, 2010, 2013, and 2019, DI women's soccer in 2009, and DIII baseball from 2007 to 2014.
