Buffalo, NY – Two members engraved in NJCAA history have been inducted into the NJCAA Swimming & Diving Hall of Fame Coaches Association. Greg Holler of Erie (NY) and Harry Wickens of Vincennes (IN) were inducted during the national championship banquet on Tuesday night.
Prior to the start of the 2019 NJCAA Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center in Buffalo, NY, Holler and Wickens were honored by the NJCAA Coaches Association for their efforts and contributions to the sport.
Greg Holler
Erie (NY)
A two-time national champion, Holler excelled for the Kats from 2004-05. After a pair of runner-up finishes in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events in 2004, Holler returned for his sophomore season where he claimed a national championship in each event. Holler upped his performance from his freshman season after registering scores of 447.65 in the 1-meter and 432.10 in the 3-meter events to capture the title in each event.
Following a standout career at Erie, Holler finished his academic career at Bowling Green State University where he served as the program's diving coach.
A current engineer for Turner Construction Company, Holler earned his associate's degree from Erie in Applied Science in Construction Management Engineering Technology and a bachelor's of science degree in Construction Management.
Harry Wickens
Vincennes (IN)
A staple in Trailblazer history, Wickens guided the Vincennes swimming and diving programs for 21 seasons after starting the program in 1980. During his tenure, Vincennes produced 21 national champions in 37 events while 223 student-athletes earned All-America honors. During his time at Vincennes, Wickens was named the NJCAA Coach of the Year three times.
WickensBetween both programs, the Trailblazers boasted 25 top-three finishes at the national championships under the tutelage of Wickens.
Wickens, who coached through the 2000-01 season also served as a physical education professor while at Vincennes.
The 2019 NJCAA Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships open up at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center Wednesday morning.
