Vincennes men make history with 19th Bowling championship

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – Vincennes (Ind.) set themselves apart Saturday at Thruway Lanes. The Trailblazers won their NJCAA-record 19th men’s bowling championship and have now claimed eight of the last twelve NJCAA crowns.

Totaling 13,671 pins for the tournament, Vincennes finished well ahead the 13,132 pins posted by defending champion and second-place finisher Schenectady County (N.Y.). Third-place honors went to Iowa Central, followed by Mohawk Valley (N.Y.) and Highland (Ill.).

Vincennes’ effort was led by freshman Matt Dzikiewicz and sophomore Tom Reynolds. Dzikiewicz led the Trailblazers’ charge with a 212.6 average score – finishing second in the all-events standings. Reynolds took third with a 203.9 average. Jesse Gibson earned a fifth-place finish with a 198.3 average, while fellow Vincennes sophomore Tyler Armour rounded out the top 10 with a 191.4.

Schenectady County sophomore Zach Doty claimed both the singles (719) and all-events (213.3 average) crowns. Doty and sophomore teammate Casey Schoonmaker also earned the doubles title for the Royals – knocking down 1,209 pins.
