DuPage and Louisburg to face off in 2024 DIII Football National Championship

With the conclusion of the 2024 NJCAA Division III Football regular season and the final poll being released, the NJCAA has announced DuPage (IL) and Louisburg (NC) have been selected to play in the 2024 NJCAA Division III Football National Championship Game. The Chaparrals and Hurricanes will face off at Bjarne Ullsvik Stadium on the campus of College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL, on Saturday, December 7 at 12:00 PM CT. The championship game will stream on ESPN+ for the third consecutive year.

This matchup will be the first meeting between these two squads in the 2024 season.

DuPage was named the preseason No. 1 team following winning their third consecutive Division III Football National Championships. The Chaparrals remained the No. 1 team for the entirety of the 2024 season and finished the season with a 10-1 record. The Chaps' only loss this season came on the road to Division I Iowa Central, 35-30. The Chaps feature one of the best offensive attacks in the country. They lead the nation in total offense and points per game, averaging 52.9. They are in the top 5 in the country in both rushing and passing offenses. Quarterback Justin Bland is the nation's leader in completions (173), attempts (269), completion % (64.3), yards (2934), yards per game (293.4), touchdowns (36), and pass efficiency (196.4). Jamareon Dale and Ernest Temple are the one-two punch for DuPage in the backfield. Dale is in the top 5 in the nation for rushes, yards, yards per game, yards per rush and leads the nation in touchdowns with 10. Wideout Clayton Bone has been a favorite target of Bland, being in the top 5 in the nation in catches (38), yards (743), and touchdowns (11). Freshman linebacker Michael Tringali is the leader for the Chaps on the defensive with 35 solo tackles and 57 total tackles.

The Hurricanes are making their first NJCAA Division III National Championship game appearance, and first NJCAA Football Championship game in school history. Louisburg enters the National Championship with an 8-2 record with both losses coming to ranked Division I opponents Lackawanna and Georgia Military.  The Louisburg offense has been one of the best in Division III ranking 2nd in scoring (358), 3rd in points per game (35.8) and 4th in total offense (3694). Quarterback Dylan Trevillian has thrown for 1,892 yards and 18 touchdowns. He has also only thrown three interceptions while maintaining a 60.1% completion percentage. Linebacker Letraskey Pressley has given them a ton of juice off the edge, holding 50.0 tackles, 11.5 sacks, 33 tackle assists, and a nation-leading4 fumble recoveries. D-End Keaton Braddock is also a key player for the defensive of the Hurricanes with 7.5 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, and a fumble return touchdown.

Bjarne Ullsvik Stadium has played host to the Red Grange Bowl since 2016.
