Charlotte, NC – LSU Eunice's pitcher Blake Lobell has been named the 2024 NJCAA Division II Baseball Pitcher of the Year after an incredible sophomore campaign.
Lobell takes home the honor after posting an impressive 14-0 record on the season, accompanied by a 2.04 ERA, the eighth-best in the nation and 129 strikeouts (1st in nation). The sophomore helped lead the Bengals to the Division II World Series Championship where he started two games and threw 13.0 innings with 4 runs allowed in route to two victories.
"Blake had a fabulous year on the mound for us, but I think the greatest thing he did was the leadership he provided as a team captain when he wasn't playing. I cannot tell you how great of a person he is, and he deserves everything he is getting." said head coach Jeff Willis.
The sophomore hurler earned 14 wins in 18 appearances this season. He posted one shut-out performance and surpassed double-digit strikeouts five times.
Lobell has committed to play at the four-year level for Southeastern Louisiana and will also compete for the USA All-Star Team in the 2024 Baseball Week Haarlem.
