ENID, Okla. – In just its first appearance in the NJCAA Division II Baseball World Series, Murray State College (Okla.) dethroned reigning champion LSU Eunice (La.) 4-3 Saturday at David Allen Memorial Ballpark to clinch the first national championship in school history in any sport.

The Aggies (46-22) got an impressive outing from Bradley Horn who threw a complete game and allowed three runs, seven hits and two walks while striking out six.

LSU Eunice took an early 2-0 after the top half of the first inning when Stephan Trosclair singled before Buddy McCoy tripled with two outs. McCoy then scored on a wild pitch.

After scoring two runs in the second inning, the Aggies took the lead for good in the bottom of the third frame on an RBI double by Josh Ingram and an RBI single by Brandon Grimsley.

Stefan Trosclair got on base three times in the game for LSU - Eunice. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the first inning and homered in the third inning.

The Bengals finish the 2013 season at 52-10 and as the national runners-up after winning national titles in 2006, ’08, ’10 and ’12.

Jared Sterling had two hits, a run scored and an RBI to for the Aggies. Noel Nevarez earned Tournament MVP honors. The sophomore made several key plays in centerfield throughout the week in Enid while leading Murray State with a .400 batting clip. He belted three doubles, a home run and drove in six runs.

Murray State’s Hunder Raley earned Most Valuable Pitcher accolades after going 2-0 in Enid. He led the Aggies to 2-1 victory over Brunswick Community College (N.C.) in their opening contest, allowing just one earned run in six innings. He followed that performance with a six inning effort in an elimination contest versus Heartland Community College (Ill.). He did not allow an earned run and tallied five strikeouts. In 12 innings, Raley posted a 0.83 ERA and allowed just six hits while striking out 10 in the World Series.

Going 10-for-22 in Enid was LSU Eunice’s Buddy McCoy. His .455 average and .682 slugging percentage made him the unanimous selection for the tournament’s outstanding hitter award. McCoy had eight singles, a triple, home run and five RBIs.
