Michael Liptak joined the NJCAA at the beginning of last year as a Sports Administration Assistant to help guide the media relations department. Working under the Director of Marketing and Communications, Michael helps conform the polls, player of the week awards, and graphic design of video production and still graphics. Along with assisting with the NJCAA’s new media, the Pueblo, Colorado native manages the record books and answers any other sports information related questions.

Before joining the NJCAA, Liptak was a media intern in the athletic department for his alma mater- Colorado State University-Pueblo where he wrote game recaps, previews, interviewed athletes and coaches, called live stats for lacrosse and managed social media during home events.

Liptak graduated from CSU-Pueblo with a Bachelor of Science in mass communications with an emphasis in electronic media. During his time in school he also covered sports for the school’s newspaper and helped guide the sports department for the student ran radio station, Rev 89.5 KTSC-FM Pueblo, where he called high school football and hosted and produced hour long sports programming.

In his spare time, Michael enjoys playing basketball and taking his camera on hikes and capturing nature at its finest in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in Southern Colorado.

When asked these questions, Michael had this to say:

What is the most rewarding part of your job with the NJCAA and why?

The most rewarding part of my job is having the ability to bring so much excitement to the student-athletes, athletic programs and the student-athletes’ families with the content we produce.

Why do you recommend NJCAA schools to potential student-athletes?

The NJCAA is a great place for athletes and young professionals to get their foot in the door and mature and enhance their skills. All everyone really needs is an opportunity and that is what the NJCAA does for so many people.

What excites you the most about the NJCAA and why?

It gives so many people opportunities that they normally wouldn’t receive earlier on in their career, whether you’re an athlete or professional and the organization continues to grow.

What is your favorite sport?

I love basketball! There's not many sports where you can have an impact on both offense and defense and directly make your teammates better.
