Deron Clark - New Mexico Junior College
Deron Clark's impact on New Mexico Junior College and the NJCAA has been unparalleled. His work ethic and passion for athletics has directly led to the success of his institution. He advocates for the prosperity of his student-athletes and coaches, which helps to foster a winning culture that is evident in the results of many programs at NMJC.
"Deron Clark is every president's "Dream Athletic Director". He always operates with the utmost integrity - leading by example and setting the standard for excellence on and off the field. He is the hardest worker on campus, ever willing to give his time to support his coaches, student-athletes, and the entire athletic program," said Cathy Mitchell, NMJC President.
Clark began his career at NMJC in 2016. During this period, the athletics program has claimed 10 National Championship Titles, and three National Runners-up finishes. Clark consistently advocates for more opportunities for his athletes as he continuously bids on tournaments to be the host site. Notably, NMJC has hosted the NJCAA National Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 2019 and 2023 as well as the Division I Men's Golf Championship in the 2024.
Clark is not only in involved in his institution, but the NJCAA as well. He has served Region 5 as a Board of Regents representative since the beginning of the governance structure while serving on several sports committees during his time within the NJCAA.
Clark tirelessly advocates for his school and athletes, ensuring that they are not only successful in their sport, but as individuals. He aims to provide them with the proper tools necessary to grow fruitful in their life beyond sports.
Mitchell stated, "His forward-thinking mindset and willingness to take on new projects continue to bring our athletic programs to new heights. Because of his leadership, our student-athletes are not just competing but excelling, both in their sports and in their futures. Deron's vision, leadership, and heart make him truly deserving of this honor."
