Mick McDaniel re-elected as Board of Regents Chair

Charlotte, NC – Mick McDaniel, Tompkins Cortland (NY) Director of Athletics and Recreation, has been re-elected as the NJCAA Board of Regents Chair for the 2020-2023 term. McDaniel has served as Board Chair since August 2018 and will continue to lead the NJCAA governance structure alongside Dr. Christopher Parker, NJCAA President and CEO.

"It is my honor to serve as Board Chair for a second term. We have so many amazing volunteers in our organization and I am looking forward to building on the expertise, trust and cooperation revealed over the past few years with our inclusive model of leadership," stated McDaniel. "Each NJCAA student-athlete, school, and Region has a story to tell and the more we understand each other, the stronger our organization will become. Together we will face challenges, celebrate victories, and embrace change to provide the best opportunities possible for our membership."

With over 16 years of experience at the national level, McDaniel has risen through the ranks of the NJCAA where he has also been elected as President and 1st and 2nd Vice President of NJCAA Board of Directors, the association's previous governance structure.  At Tompkins Cortland (NY), McDaniel has served as the Director of Athletics for over 26 years.  A former Northeast Under Armour Athletic Director of the Year, McDaniel also helped guide the Tompkins Cortland men's and women's golf programs as head coach for over a decade.  McDaniel serves the local community as the Sports Camp Designer and Director at Panthers Summer Camps in Tompkins County (NY). McDaniel attended State University of New York at Delhi and State University of New York College at Cortland. 

"I am excited to work closely with Dr. Parker for another three years. His vision for the NJCAA is inspiring and will benefit the entire organization," said McDaniel. "The secret of the NJCAA's success has always been its people. I am confident that the next few years will produce even more dedicated professionals to carry on our mission of serving student-athletes and member schools."

The Board Chair is the highest authority of the NJCAA and is responsible for the following: Governs and leads the NJCAA Board of Regents, works with the Senior Men's and Women's Administrator for Committee Assignments, manages and leads the agenda of Board of Regents meetings, oversees the CEO of the organization, works collectively with the CEO to ensure goals and expectations are met, as well as any other duties as necessary.

NJCAA Board of Regents

The NJCAA adopted the Board of Regents governance structure in August 2018.  One elected NJCAA Board Member represents each of the association's 24 regions.  The region representatives are joined by a Board Chair, Men's Administrator, Women's Administrator, six At-Large Members, and six members of the Presidential Advisory Council.
