WAUWATOSA, WI (November 25, 2018) - Five players scoring in double figures was still not enough for the #20 ranked Bryant & Stratton College women's basketball team as they fall short to the #10 North Iowa Area Community College Trojans 117-95. The loss snaps the Bobcats five game winning streak and puts them at 5-2 overall on the season.
The Bobcats put forth a collective effort in the back end of the third quarter and into the fourth cutting the deficit from 20 points to 10 but the Trojans ability to knock down shots from long distance was too much for the Bobcats as they sunk 16 total three's in the game.
Trailing 91-78 to start the fourth, the Bobcats inability to get stops defensively made it nearly impossible to get back within striking distance as the Trojans increased the 13 point gap to 17 (105-88) with five minutes left in the contest.
"It was an up-tempo game from the tip and the difference was we struggled to stop their perimeter game," Bobcats head coach Jeff Lorenz said. "Scoring was not our problem; we just couldn't get stops when we needed to."
Shooting 4 for 17 from downtown to the Trojans 16 for 61 made all the difference in the game as the Trojans outscored the Bobcats by 36 from beyond the arc.
With two minutes left in the fourth, the Bobcats saw their hopes of winning come to an end as they trailed by 20 with all of the momentum on the Trojans side.
"We're fine," Bobcats head coach Jeff Lorenz said. "North Iowa is a fantastic program and that is why they are ranked #10 in the country. We will get back to work this week and move forward."
Despite the loss, the Bobcats had many players showcase their talents in the game as forward Brandilyn Robertson, dropped 22 points and six rebounds. Sophomore, Maddy McCoy, was just shy of double-double producing 16 points and nine rebounds followed by Ja'Taviah Conley's 15 points and seven rebounds.
Freshman guard, Ashley Moses, knocked in 15 points on .40% shooting from the field and freshman, Essence Rayford, contributed 12 points and four assists off of the bench.
The Bobcats were outrebounded by the Trojans 67-50 which included 34 offensive rebounds from North Iowa.
The percentages show well for the Bobcats as they shot 48% from the field.
