KANKAKEE, Ill. — Tuesday was a tale of two games for the Bryant & Stratton College softball team. The Bobcats dropped game one by just two runs, but they responded with a six-run win in game two. The Bobcats moved to 19-2 on the season following the split.
Game 1 | Kankakee 5, Bryant & Stratton 3
The Bobcats sent Macey Clark to the circle for game one, and she sat the Cavaliers down in the first two innings. Bryant & Stratton struck first in the top of the first third after Madelyn Birling brought in Kaitlynn Christ, who doubled.
The Cavaliers would answer with a run of their own and score three more runs in the bottom of the fourth to extend their lead to 4-1. Birling and Christ once again helped Bryant & Stratton get back into the game in the top of the fifth and trailed by one run.
Kankakee scored once again in the bottom of the sixth and ended game one with a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the seventh.
Notes
- Birling had the game's only two RBIs for the Bobcats.
- Clark recorded her 200th strikeout during the game.
Game 2 | Bryant & Stratton 10, Kankakee 4
The Bobcats brought their bats out in game two. Tied at one heading into the fourth, Grace Leitheiser hit a two-run home run, bringing in Joscelyn Bennett, who opened the inning with a double.
The Bobcats tacked on five more runs in the top of the fifth and two more runs in the top of the sixth to bring their run total to 10. Nora Statz hit the second two-run home run of the day.
Holly Lowenberg was in the circle for Byrant & Stratton and pitched a complete game. The freshman pitcher also struck out six batters.

- Six Bobcats had multiple hits.
- Statz went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and Leitheiser went 2-for-4 and also had four RBIs.
- Bryant & Stratton recorded 15 hits.

Bryant & Stratton is set to host a doubleheader against MATC on April 10, starting at 3 p.m. at Rainbow Park. Following that matchup, it'll head to South Suburban for a doubleheader on April 13.
