The Bryant & Stratton Lady Bobcats historic season comes to an end after two hard fought losses in tournament.
Game 1:
The Bobcats could not keep pace with Fort Scott and lost 1-5 on Monday.
A ground out put Fort Scott on the board in the bottom of the second and they would add one run in the third after the Bobcats committed an error.
The Bobcats scored one run in the top of the sixth on a solo home run to left field by #22 Kiara Selby.
#12 Chloe Gust led things off in the circle for the Bobcats giving up six hits and five runs (four earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking four.
#22 Selby led the Bobcats with one RBI, the 3-hole hitter went 1-for-4 on the day while #22 Selby, #2 Cynthia Alvillar, #13 Anaya Jones, #12 Gust, and #4 Shayla Hurley each collected one hit for the Bobcats.
Game 2:
The Bobcats's effort to come back from down six runs in the sixth inning came up just short, as they fell 8-10 to Jones College on Tuesday ending their season.
Jones college got on the board in the top of the second inning after a homer to left field. They would add on more runs via a single, a hit into a fielder's choice, and a double, each scoring one run. They would add on two more in the next inning after a homer to left field, and a hit into a double play, each scoring one run.
The Bobcats flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring seven runs on three hits to take a 8-7 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by #18 Abigail Epperson that drove in two.
#18 Epperson pitched five innings in relief for the Bobcats giving up three hits and four runs (two earned) while, striking out two and walking six. #15 Emma Cardenas stepped in the circle first for the Bobcats, the starting pitcher surrendered four hits and four runs (one earned) over two innings, striking out none and walking one.
#18 Epperson led the Bobcats with two RBIs from the number eight spot in the lineup going 1-for-3 on the day. #4 Shayla Hurley led the team with three hits in five at bats, #12 Chloe Gust collected two hits in four at bats. #4Hurley stole two bases and the team turned one double play in the game. The Bobcats closed the gap by scoring on a double, a double, an error, a double, a single, and a ground out all in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Bobcats were right in it until Jones college hit a two run home run to left field in the top of extra innings.
With the season coming to an end, this team will never be forgotten as they have changed the landscape of Bryant & Stratton Softball. In the first 4 years of the program, the team had combined 15 wins total. This year the ladies leave having set the record for most wins in a single season (across all sports at BSC) with 37 along with the first ever World Series appearance! Congrats on an outstanding year ladies!
