CORNING, NY… The Genesee Community College women's soccer team bounced back on Wednesday afternoon as they defeated the Corning Red Barons 5-1.

Isabelle Porter got the Cougars on the board off a Brianna Davis cross to tie the game at 1-1. The Cougars would get the lead on sophomore Diante Scheepers' first of the game coming from an assist from Julia Ashworth.

Early in the second half, Corning would put the pressure on but was unable to capitalize. Julia Ashworth would score off an Isabelle Porter assist to open the Cougars lead to 3-1. Scheepers would score her second of the game from Khiva Huxhold cross. Michaela Curletta would score off a second Huxhold cross to finish the scoring.

Madison Papaj and Alexa Salatel split time between the pipes for Genesee.

Genesee (3-1) is back in action on Saturday, September 14 when Columbia-Greene Community College comes to Batavia. Game time is at 2 pm and the game will be streamed live on www.geneseeathletics.com
