November 27, 2023 - - Lorain County Community College's Willie Powell Jr. (Cleveland, Ohio/Bedford HS) is this week's Ohio Community College Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of November 19-26, 2023. For the freshman, it is the first OCCAC weekly honor of his career.
Powell Jr. put together two solid road performances for the Commodores last week. First, he notched his first 20-point performance of the season with 27 against the Westmoreland County Community College Wolfpack where he went 5-for-7 from 3-point land to lead the Commodores to a 93-61 victory. Four days later, he got a season-high in points scored with 32 on 14-for-25 shooting in LCCC's loss to Community Christian College, 105-90.
This season Powell Jr. is averaging 14.2 points per game and shooting 47.2% from the field.
The Commodores (2-5) continue their season this week as they open Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play against the Bryant & Stratton College Bobcats on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. Tip off is at 6:30 p.m. inside the Ewing Activities Center Gymnasium. General admission is $5, LCCC Students as well as children 10 and under get in for free.
