Softball Sweeps Coffeyville On Sophomore Day

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The KCKCC softball team held on for a sweep over Coffeyville on Saturday, winning 7-6 and 8-7 on their annual Sophomore Day.

KCKCC is 20-21 overall and 8-10 in the conference.

KCKCC jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the first game – scoring three runs each in the fourth and fifth frames. Coffeyville added three runs in the sixth, but the Blue Devils tacked on another run in the bottom half. The squad was then able to hold off a comeback in the seventh after Coffeyville got two runs across.

Stella Harber, Trinity Tauer and Ruby Nola each had two hits. Nola would add three RBI.

The Blue Devils had another close call with the Ravens in game two. After taking a 4-2 lead into the sixth inning, the Ravens grabbed a 5-4 lead after scoring three runs. But KCKCC added four runs in the bottom of the inning before holding off Coffeyville for another comeback, winning 8-7.

Nola and Savannah Short each had three hits and two RBI.

KCKCC is back in action on Tuesday when they host Fort Scott at 2 and 4 p.m.
