Settles named DIII Player of the Year

Charlotte, NC - Tyriana Settles has been named the Tachikara 2019 NJCAA Division III Volleyball Player of the Year.

The freshman outside hitter led Owens (OH) to its second consecutive national title in Rochester, MN.  In the championship match, Settles posted a game-high 12 kills, 0.209 hitting percentage, and nine digs in the three-set match.  Settles' efforts earned Tournament Most Valuable Player honors.    

A standout player all season, Settles earned Ohio Community College Athletic Conference DIII Player of the Week three times and was named the Tachikara NJCAA DIII Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week once during the 2019 season.  Settles' incredible freshman season has earned a place in the NJCAA Volleyball record books, as she ranks second in DIII for kills in a single season in the 25-point era (since 2008).
