Phoenix's Ali Ashner named DII Player of the Year

Charlotte, NC - Phoenix (AZ) sophomore Ali Ashner has been named the 2022 NJCAA DII Softball Player of the Year.

Ashner had a stellar season for the Bears, making her presence known at the plate and in the field. The second-year outfielder led the nation in numerous offensive statistical categories, including hits (109), doubles (36), total bases (222), and batting average (.574). She was also second in slugging percentage (1.168), and third in on-base percentage (.620). In the outfield, she boasted an impressive .936 fielding percentage. 

Her all-around efforts propelled the Bears to their second-consecutive championship title. Ashner shined brightest during the tournament, batting .647 with two home runs and six RBI. Her efforts earned the offensive player of the tournament honor and an all-tournament team honor as well. 

On top of this prestigous honor, Ashner was also named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Player of the Year.
