Trojans claim first national title
Huntsville, AL - The Trinidad State College (CO) Trojans claim the 2023 NJCAA Division I Men's Cross Country Championship title, presented by the Marines. With 71 team points. This is the first title in Trinidad State program history.
The Trojans placed two runners inside the top 10 in the overall individual finishers, and two others placed inside the top 20. Kidus Misgina landed in the top-5 with a mark of 23:30.10 for third place in individual finishers. Hanibal Haile followed closely behind at no.6 with a mark of 23:50.20.
Trinidad State College wrote the Trojan's program into the NJCAA men's cross country record book on Saturday, claiming the first national title in the program's history. The highest the Trojans have previously placed was fourth in 2021 with 153 points.
Out of six runners and four in the top-20, the Trojans posted an average time of 24:17.52.
Kidus Misgina and Hanibal Haile were honored as 2023 NJCAA DI Men's Cross Country All-Americans.
Bruins claim silver
Salt Lake posted 78 team points and an average time of 24:21.84 to claim second place at the 2023 NJCAA Division I Men's Cross Country Championship.
This is Salt Lake's second time in program history finishing in the top 10. the first was in 2022, when the Bruins earned an eighth-place finish with 213 points.
JaQuavious Harris and Talon Rodriguez, were named to the 2023 NJCAA DI Men's Cross Country All-America team.
