PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Former Fighting Owl goalie
Aden Walsh was selected 25th overall by the Georgia Swarm in the 2021 National Lacrosse League (NLL) Entry Draft on Saturday night. He becomes the first Harford lacrosse player in the program's modern era (2008 to present) to be drafted.
"We are absolutely elated to see Aden carry out his dream of playing professional lacrosse," said Harford head men's lacrosse coach
Aaron Verardi. "Aden absolutely has the talent to do great things in the NLL."
Walsh served primarily in a "super sub" role for Harford throughout its historic 2021 campaign, often stepping in mid-contest to steady the Fighting Owls defense between the pipes. The Canadian national finished 2-0 with 31 saves and a 6.34 GAA across seven games. His final appearance for Harford came against Genesee in the NJCAA National Championship semifinal, where he stopped eight shots over the final two quarters to boost the Fighting Owls into its first final in program history.
The National Lacrosse League (NLL) is North America's premier professional lacrosse league. Founded in 1986, the NLL ranks third in average attendance for pro indoor sports worldwide, behind only the NHL and NBA. The League is comprised of 15 franchises across the United States and Canada: Albany FireWolves, Buffalo Bandits, Calgary Roughnecks, Colorado Mammoth, Georgia Swarm, Halifax Thunderbirds, Las Vegas NLL, New York Riptide, Panther City Lacrosse Club (TX), Philadelphia Wings, Rochester Knighthawks, San Diego Seals, Saskatchewan Rush, Toronto Rock, and Vancouver Warriors.
