GAME DAY: Roadrunner Women Roll Past Cumberland for Third Straight Win

Forward Trina Deveney-Bethea (Cedar Creek) deposited 24 points to lead five players in double figures as the Roadrunner women's basketball team rolled to a 108-35 triumph over visiting RCSJ-Cumberland in a Garden State Athletic Conference contest Tuesday night, the third win a row for head coach Rich Cooper's team. 

Also hitting in double figures were De'Ania Davenport-White (Salem) with 20 points, Mary Diaz (Highland) with 15, Qeiajae Canty (Atlantic City) with 14, and Gianna Laguarina (Clearview) with 10.

The Runners raced to a 30-9 first quarter lead and later a 62-20 halftime advantage in never looking back.

The game marked the return of Dukes' Coach Tara Hartwyk, a former Hall of Fame player and a former scholastic coach at Woodbury High School.

Next up for the Runners, who improved to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in the GSAC, will be a Saturday, December 7th home contest vs. Rowan Burlington in a 12 noon start.

Game Day Preview

The Roadrunner women's basketball team will look to win their third straight game when they RCSJ Cumberland in a 5:00 pm start Tuesday, November 26.

Top scorers for Coach Rich Cooper's Runners include guard Qeiajae Canty (Atlantic City, 16.2 ppg), and forwards Nikita Acker (Triton Regional, 9.7 ppg) and Trina Deveney-Bethea (Cedar Creek, 12.5 ppg, 7 rebounds/game). Sophomore guard Mya Lewis (Cherry Hill West) and forward Kylar Coughlin (Gloucester) also are enjoying solid seasons.

"We are getting healthier and our lineup is improving each game," said Cooper. "Defensively we're making our difference, and we hope to continue that pattern. Offensively, we need to be more consistent, but we are making progress."

The Runners enter Saturday's contest with a 5-3 overall record following an overtime win over Ocean County College this past weekend. They will face a Dukes team -- coached by first-year coach Tara Hartwyk, a Roadrunner Hall of Fame former player -- that enters the matchup with an 0-4 overall record and 0-3 within Region XIX and the GSAC.
