Genesee Falls in Overtime to End Season

COLUMBIA, MD… In the opening round of the 2019 NJCAA Men's Lacrosse Championships, the #5 ranked Genesee Community College Cougars traveled to Howard Community College and it was the host Dragons that was victorious, winning 12-11 in overtime to end the Cougars' season.

Genesee and Howard would trade the lead several times. Timothy Martino scored less than a minute into the game to start the scoring. After a Dragons goal to tie the game, Samuel Koczwara would score on an assist by Konner Sunday to give Genesee back the lead. Evan Printup would give Genesee the lead again late in the first quarter, but the Dragons would tie the game at the end of the first quarter.

Jason Chiodo would score four goals on the afternoon. Timothy Martino would end up with two goals and an assist, as did Koczwara. Zach Wade, Evan Printup, and Darcey Redeye would score for Genesee. Lincoln Potter made 10 saves in net for Genesee and Jacob Hicks went 15-25 from the faceoff circle.

The Cougars finish the season with a record of 8-5 and winning the Region III Championship for the eighth time in program history.

Genesee Community College will be the site of the 2019 NJCAA Men's Lacrosse Championships. Nassau Community College, Harford Community College, Onondaga Community College and Howard Community College will play for the National Title on Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19. Saturday's semi-final matchups will be at 1 and 4 pm with the National Championship game taking place on Sunday, May 19.
