Women’s Basketball Grabs 40-Point Victory in Quarterfinals

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Women's Basketball team moves to 24-2 overall after traveling to Wake Technical Community College for the Region 10 South Atlantic District Tournament Quarterfinals.

 

With a 98-58 win over Louisburg College in the quarterfinals, Richard Bland advances to the semifinals which will take place tomorrow, Friday, March 10th at 4pm.

 

The Statesmen and Hurricanes battled to a 15-all first period. Richard Bland came out hot in the second period and would not look back, outscoring Louisburg 27-16 in the second, 23-16 in the third, and would explode for 33 points in the fourth, taking down the Hurricanes 98-58.

 

Five Statesmen scored double-digit figures in the loss led by Jasmine Norman and Auzhane Allard with 21 points each. Norman also chipped in with nine rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Allard tallied her 15th double-double on the season with 22 rebounds and 12 points. She also added six assists and four blocks. Off the bench, Janiah Jones tallied 18 points, four rebounds, two steals, and one assist. Courtney Scott pitched in with 16 points, five steals, and four rebounds, while Amira Roy scored a double-double with 13 rebounds and 11 points. Kennedee Matthews and Lauryn Bell added four points each, Natayvia Lipscomb two, and Chamara Martin one in the win.

 

Richard Bland went 77.8% from the charity stripe, 41.2% from the field, and 33.3% from the perimeter.

 

The Richard Bland College women's basketball team next prepares for the Region 10 South Atlantic District Tournament Semifinal round where they will take on Cape Fear Community College tomorrow, March 10th at 4pm.
