Women's TF Opens Season at Pima Indoor

Tucson, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds women's track & field team opened their 2023 season at the Pima Indoor Invitational on Saturday.

Lilyanna Martinez opened up her college career in excellent fashion, as she hit an indoor nationals qualifying mark for the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.04 and inched past the previous school record of 9.05 held by Courtney Wood since 2009.

Anna Harmon hit national qualifying marks and personal bests in both the mile (5:18.64) and 1000m (3:08.63). Kate Brockman also qualified in the 1000m with a time of 3:10.25.

Taylor Jacobs hit a qualifying mark in the 600m with a time of 1:38.55 and finished in first place. Jacobs was also part of the 4x400m relay team that got in a qualifying time of 3:58.98.

Diane Ondobo was third in the 400m dash with a time of 59.65. Madison Hernandez (11.82m) and Victoria Malaki (11.79m) went 1-2 in the weight throw. Malaki was also second in the shot put with a 10.78m personal best and Kaprice Faraci was third at 10.25m.

Up next for the T-Birds, they will compete in the PVCC Indoor on Saturday, Jan. 28th.
