HACC Hawks Men’s Basketball Falls to Mighty Oaks

Harrisburg, PA –  The HACC Hawks men's basketball team faced the Mighty Oaks of Salem Community College on Thursday night. The HACC Hawks put up a strong team effort, but fell to the Mighty Oaks 72-61.

Both teams came out strong and battled for the lead throughout the first half. The HACC Hawks began to pull away with the lead setting the tone for the game. The Hawks started the second half working to stay ahead of the Mighty Oaks as they began to close the gap and gain momentum. The HACC Hawks were unable to hold the lead nearing the end of the second half. The Mighty Oaks capitalized offensively and narrowly captured the lead from the Hawks. Free throws became crucial in the second half as the Hawks shot 68.4% at the charity stripe while the Mighty Oaks shot 84%. The Mighty Oaks offense was just too strong and they held the lead surpassing the Hawks. Salem Community College captured the win over the Hawks; 72-61.

Leading the squad for the Hawks with 15 points and eight rebounds was Vincent Fonticoba. Anthony Alviani followed, capturing 14 points with six rebounds. Lincoln Morris rallied 12 points on the board with two assists. Matthew Fravel tallied 11 points with seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.

The HACC Hawks will face Central Penn College on Monday, Feb. 6, 2023. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
