Holmes knocks off Baton Rouge and Delgado

NEW ORLEANS, La. --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs picked up a Region XXIII win here Friday night over the Delgado Dolphins, 79-64, to improve to 6-3 on the season.

Holmes led 38-25 at halftime and outscored Delgado 41-39 in the second half.

Josiah Lewis led the Bulldogs in scoring with 19 points while Tyler Williams had 11. Lewis led in rebounds with 10.

For the game, the Bulldogs shot 45.6 percent from the floor (31-of-68), 58.3 percent from the three-point line (7-of-12) and 52.6 percent from the free throw line (10-of-19).

In a game on Thursday at Baton Rouge, the Bulldogs defeated the Baton Rouge Bears, 75-68, in a Region contest.

Holmes led 35-31 and outscored the Bears, 40-37 in the second half.

Kaleb Higgins poured in 27 points while Amadou Traore had 16 and Josiah Lewis had 14. Lewis finished with 11 rebounds while Higgins had eight.

The Bulldogs 53 percent from the floor (26-of-49), 35.7 percent from the three-point line (5-of-14) and 64.3 percent from the free throw line (18-of-28).
