Women's tennis team tops Bates College

The Eastern Florida State College women's tennis team defeated Bates College 8-1 Wednesday at Titan Tennis Center on the Melbourne campus.

The Titans improved to 3-1 on the season with the victory.

In doubles, the Titans took two of the three matches as the duo of Emma Sanchez and Gloria Barcaro won 8-5 at No. 2 doubles while Paige Noble-Lucas and Lucia Lucas came from behind to force a tiebreaker, winning the tiebreaker 7-5 and give the Titans a 2-1 lead in the match.

Sanchez won her third set tiebreaker 10-2 after winning the first set 6-1 and falling 6-4 in the second set at No. 1 singles. Barcaro won a tight first set 7-6(7), then lost the second set 6-3. But in the tiebreaker, Barcaro got off to a nice start in the tiebreaker, winning 10-6.
