RedTails Mens Soccer Falls to NIACC

MASON CITY- RedTail Men's Soccer faced off against a tough NIACC squad on October 15, falling 5-4. 

The RedTails got caught in a tough battle against a good NIACC Trojan team. The Trojans would get on the board just two minutes into the game but the RedTails would battle back to tie up the game with a goal from Niall Chinn assisted by Dilesh Patel. They would go into the half tied up at one a piece. The Trojans came out early and often in the second getting three goals in the first 25 minutes of the second half. In a deep hole the RedTails would battle back with two quick goals by Chayten Srai assisted by Dilesh Patel and Joe Farlow. Tom Preece would successfully make a penalty kick with just eight minutes to go in the game. The Trojans would throw the last punch by taking the lead just one minute later and giving them the lead 5-4 which would hold the rest of the game. 

Men's head coach Anthony Velez had some positive words after the RedTails latest game. 

"Saturday was disappointing," he said. "A game we should've won. A game where we beat them 7-0 the first time. We knew going into it, it wasn't going to that type of game again. It was close 1-1 at half. Then into the second half we were 4-1 down. To go and bring it back was excellent. We shot ourselves in the foot and they won 5-4. It's disappointing to go score 3 goals in 5 mins and then concede a silly one at the end." 

The RedTails next matchup will be at home Tuesday, October 18, at 1:00pm. against Scott Community College for Sophomore Recognition night.
