River Silences the Sharks Bats

River Silences the Sharks Bats

Saturday's matchup between Miami Dade and Indian River ended with a 6-3 victory for the Pioneers.

The River was in good hands as Sophomore right hander Andres Fernandez threw his first complete game of the season, allowing three runs which came from a 4th inning homerun. Besides the home run the Sharks could not get to Fernandez as they remained scoreless in the other 8 frames.

For the Pioneer offensively the hero was Bo Simmons who recorded his first home run of the year and it was a big one. After the three run homer in the top half of the inning Simmons Grand Slam was the Pioneer answer in the bottom half. The Slam proved to be all the offense they would need as the Pioneers added some insurance in the 5th and coasted to the 6-3 final.

The Pioneers will take on Broward College Tuesday and Wednesday before their weekend bye as we head down the home stretch for the final 10 games. Tuesday's game will be at Broward College and Wednesday's will be a 3pm home game.
