Jayhawks Sit in Seventh After Day Two of Nationals

FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Jamestown Community College men's swimming team continues to get stronger with multiple swimmers posting personal best at the National Junior College Athletic Association Swimming & Diving National Championships.

 

The Jayhawks are still in seventh place with 75 team points, 10 points ahead of Region 3 foie Erie Community College.

 

To lead the pack for the Jayhawks, sophomore Elliot Johnson (Panama, NY/Panama Central) finished in 20th place in the 200 yard freestyle, posting a time of 2:01.01. Johnson's previous best

 

Freshman Colby Pantall (Jamestown, NY/ Maple Grove HS) posted a new best time in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:05.13 to finish 22nd. Pantall took nearly seven seconds off his previous personal best which he posted at the ECC Quad-Meet. Fellow freshman Jackson Vanstrom (Jamestown, NY/Southwestern High) finished not far behind, taking 23rd with a time of 2:11.35.

 

JCC also competed in the 200 yard freestyle relay with the team of freshman Eathan Johnson (Panama, NY/Panama Central), freshman Matthew Fennell (Fourways Garden, Johannesburg, South Africa/King Edwards VII School), Pantall, and Vanstrom with a time of 1:39.66. The team finished in seventh place.

 

JCC wrapped up day two in the 400 yard medley relay where the team of Eathan johnson, Pantall, Fennell, and Vanstrom finished in seventh place, posting a time of 4:27.56.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action tomorrow for day three of the national tournament. Competition begins at 9:30 a.m.
