Genesee Gets Convincing Win vs Mercyhurst on Sophomore Day

BATAVIA, NY… The Genesee Community College men's basketball team saluted their sophomore class and then defeated the Mercyhurst Northeast Saints 87-70 Saturday afternoon. Genesee finishes the regular season with a record of 14-13 and a 5-5 record in conference play.

Kevin Major led the way offensively for Genesee scoring 29 points on 11-14 shooting from the field. Jamir Cheek recorded a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 13 assists. Jarett Haines scored 21 points and seven rebounds. Samuel Kesinro scored 18 points, all from behind the arch.

Genesee advances to the Region III Tournament and will play the Mercyhurst Northeast Saints Tuesday night in the Sub-Regional game. Tip-Off is scheduled for 5:00 pm and the game will be streamed live on www.geneseeathletics.com
