Sophomore running back Anwar Lewis became the first Blue Dragon running back to rush for 200 yards in a game since 2014 as the Hutchinson Community College football team broke into the win column Saturday night after starting the season with two-straight losses.

The Blue Dragons scored on their first three possessions and rolled to a 55-6 victory over the Fort Scott Greyhounds at Gowans Stadium.

Hutchinson improved to 1-2 overall and 1-2 in the Jayhawk Conference. Fort Scott fell to 0-4 overall and 0-4 in league play. The Greyhounds have lost seven-straight games. The Blue Dragons travel to Garden City next Saturday night.

The 49-point margin of victory over the Greyhounds was the largest in the 77-game series history with Fort Scott.

Lewis rushed for 210 yards on 19 carries and two touchdowns to lead the Blue Dragons. He scored on runs of 9 and 36 yards. He had eight rushes of 10 or more yards with a long of 40 yards.

Lewis' big effort was part of the seventh-highest single-game rushing performance in Blue Dragon history.

The Blue Dragons rushed for 409 total yards and five touchdowns. This was the first time that the Blue Dragons rushed for 400 or more yards since going for 416 yards against Iowa Central on October 1, 2016.

In addition to Lewis' big game, Corey McKnight rushed for 58 yards on 12 carries. Alec McCuan had 57 yards on nine carries. Tim Byrd Jr. had 57 yards on six attempts.

Hutchinson amassed 564 yards of total offense, the 14th highest single-game total in Blue Dragon history.

Quarterback Dylan Laible completed 13 of 24 passes for 132 yards and a touchdown.

Russell Wilkey caught a team-high four passes for 40 yards and a touchdown. Eight different receivers caught passes.

The Blue Dragons limited Fort Scott to 138 total yards, including a negative-26 rushing yards. The Dragons forced a season-high four takeaways - fumble recoveries by Jaylon Bass, Nadame Tucker and Davion Westmoreland and an Emmanuel Mann interception.

Hutchinson scored on their first three possessions of the game to put Fort Scott in an early hole.

The Blue Dragons took the opening kickoff and drove it 80 yards in nine plays to score the first touchdown of the game on a Jaheim Simmons' 1-yard plunge.

After Jaylon Bass recovered a Juwon Gaston forced fumble in Fort Scott territory, Wilkey caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Laible for a 14-0 lead with 8:47 to go in the opening quarter.

Hutch made it 17-0 after C.J. Moya kicked a 22-yard field goal after Westmoreland's sack/fumble and recovery.

The Dragons built a 27-0 lead after Moya's 23-yard field goal and Simmons' 3-yard touchdown run. Fort Scott got a Semaj James' 12-yard touchdown reception with 1:06 to play in the first half and Hutchinson led 27-6 at halftime.

Hutchinson scored three third-quarter touchdowns on runs of 9 and 36 yards by Lewis and a Rykem Ferguson Laney 6-yard TD reception from Daisean Cash. Byrd scored from 3 yards out with 11:20 to play in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring.
