Men's Soccer Earns Fifth Seed In National Tournament

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - Following a historic win in the NJCAA Region III Championship over Herkimer County Community College, which ended their 19-year run as Region III Champions, The Finger Lakes men's soccer team earned their first-ever berth in the NJCAA Division III National Tournament.

Following the 2024 men's soccer championship bracket release, the Lakers were announced as the fifth ranked team in the tournament, setting the stage for a matchup with fourth-ranked Camden County. The Cougars enter the tournament on a 14-game win streak with an unblemished record of 14-0.

On the flip side, the Lakers are coming off an upset win over the #3 Herkimer Generals and enter the national tournament with a record of 15-3-3 and an 11-match win streak. The Finger Lakes offense is orchestrated by Joao Antonio Rocha (Sergipe, Brazil/Colegio Master) who leads NJCAA DIII in assists with 26, while freshman Ben Domann (Wuppertal, Germany/Gesamtschule Barmen) comes in at third in the NJCAA DIII standings in goals.

The Lakers matchup with the Camden County Cougars will take place at Genesee Community College in Batavia, N.Y. at 1:30 PM. A win would send them to the semifinals against the winner of #1 Dallas Richland and #8 Raritan Valley.

The match will be streamed live on the NJCAA Network, and live stats will be provided through PrestoStats.
