United Tribes Drops Close Contest on the Road at Williston State College
Thunderbirds can't hold on in 92-86 defeat
United Tribes controlled much of the first 30 minutes of Thursday nights contest at Williston State College, but the Tetons used some timely shooting and took advantage at the free throw line to get the come from behind win 92-86.
United Tribes went to the locker room at halftime with 46-40 lead and eventually pushed the lead to 58-48 with 13:59 to play in the second half. The Tetons answered with back to back threes by Ty Edwards and Clovis Gallon to cut the lead to 58-53 and eventually took a 68-67 lead on two free throws by Josh Favors with 8:05 to play.
Neither team was able to push the lead to double digits from then on and a Famous Lefthand jumper from the corner made the game 90-86 with 8 seconds to play.
The Tetons sealed the game at the foul line to win 92-86.
The Tetons shot 50% (9-18) from three and 84% (21-25) from the foul line. Josh Favors led the way for the Tetons with 27 points going 3-5 from the three point line and a perfect 10-10 from the foul line. The Thunderbirds struggled from three point distance shooting 23% (6-26) and made 10-13 from the foul line.
Lefthand led the Thunderbirds with 30 points. Tahj Two Bulls added 23 points and 6 rebounds. DK Middleton had a game high 11 assists.
United Tribes travels to Dawson Community College on Sunday for a 4pm contest.
