Women take 8th place at Wayne Invite
The Women competed at the Wayne State Invite this past Monday and Tuesday and finished 8th out of 14 teams. Once again, the weather played a big part in the results. The first day brought low temperatures along with 20-30 mph wind with gust of 40 mph. Add in a Dust storm along with sleet and small hail made play difficult.
After day 1 results the team sat in 8th place with scores of 83, 84, 85 and 87 from Olivia Holyoak-Church, Rylin Davidson, Beatriz Pinheiro and Lauren Brown. Day 2 brought better conditions, and the team took advantage of it by scoring 12 strokes better than day 1. Holyoak-Church led the way again with a solid 76 to finish in the top 10 in 9th place. Brown and Davidson had solid rounds as well with scores of 80 & 83 respectively.
"We had a better tournament this week," said Head Coach Matt Robinson. "We are seeing improvements but need to focus on finishing the back 9 as we usually play the front 9 really well."
The women will be back in action April 21st and 22nd as they host the Annual Bent Tree Intercollegiate at Bent Tree Golf Course.
