TJC TEAMS WIN

It appeared the Apaches did not eat too much turkey for Thanksgiving.

Tyler Junior College, paced by Kwinton Hinson's 23 points, rolled to a 74-52 win over Irving CYM on Friday afternoon at Wagstaff Gymasium.

Sky'lynn Holmes hit for 24 points as the No. 16 Tyler Junior College Apache Ladies scored a 78-72 win over Collin County in the Collin Women's Basketball Classic on Friday.

TJC (7-0) had two other players in double figures - Jaqwan McCauley (15) and Eden Ewing (13).

Ezekiel Lacey (12) and Moustatha Diene (11) led Creative Young Minds, a prep school.

TJC opens Region XIV play on Wednesday, traveling to meet Lamar State-Port Arthur. The Apaches return home on Dec. 3 to meet Angelina College in a 4 p.m. tipoff.

TJC (6-1) will play Seminole State (Oklahoma) in the Classic at noon Saturday. Nautica Grant and Antionette Shrepee added 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Former John Tyler standout Ashtyn Beal had 23 for the Lady Cougars, while former Robert E. Lee star Tree Brooks added 5.
