Ottumwa, IA – The top-ranked team in the nation is set to host the annual Hy-Vee Classic at the Hellyer Center this weekend and a number of promotions and giveaways are lined up for fans.
The two-day event, sponsored by Hy-Vee gets underway Friday night as Northeast Community College (NE) and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College open up play at 4:30 PM followed by No. 1 Indian Hills and Lake Region State College (ND) at 7:00 PM. Northeast and Lake Region will meet at 4:30 PM on Saturday followed by Indian Hills and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College at 7:00 PM.
At halftime of Friday's 7:00 PM contest, Hy-Vee will be sponsoring a halftime shootout for a chance to win a $500 Hy-Vee gift card. All attendees are automatically entered to be selected for the contest.
During halftime of Indian Hills' matchup on Saturday, the annual Toys 4 Tots Teddy Bear toss and the Ugly Christmas Sweater contest will get underway. Fans are encouraged to bring stuffed animals of all shapes and sizes and will be thrown onto the court and later donated to Blessings Soup Kitchen in Ottumwa.
Fans are also encouraged to wear their Ugly Christmas Sweaters to Saturday night's contest and one winner will be selected to receive the annual trophy, handcrafted by ThumbsUp Awards in Ottumwa.
