United Tribes men win 5th straight by downing Leech Lake
Thunderbird men improve to 9-3 on the season
The United Tribes men's basketball team stayed hot and extended their win streak to 5 with a home win over Leech Lake Tribal College Saturday afternoon.
The Thunderbirds knocked down a season high 15 three pointers and used some stingy 2nd half defense in the win. The game was competitive in the first half and United Tribes went into the locker room with a 55-41 lead. In the second half United Tribes outscored their opponents 61-19 and coasted to a 116-60 victory.
The Thunderbirds shared the basketball leading to 31 assists. Leading the balanced scoring attack was Famous Lefthand. The Mon Dak Conferences second leading scorer hit for 19 points and 7 rebounds. Jayce Archambault scored 18 points and also had 6 assists in his first start of the season. Tristin Davis made his first start at the point and responded with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. DK Middleton had an efficient 16 points and 6 assists and Tahj Two Bulls added 11 points and 6 rebounds. Steven Fisher Jr. returned to the lineup and again provided a spark off the bench with 10 points and 5 rebounds.
The win improves the Thunderbirds record to 9-3 and they host Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College on Friday at 7:30 pm in their last contest before the break.
