RCGC Baseball Survives Tough Stretch of Schedule with Wins Over Mercer and Brookdale

RCGC's baseball team has survived a key stretch of its schedule this past week in solid fashion.

After splittig a pair of games last weekend against No. 1 ranked Cumberland, the No. 2 Roadrunners followed this by disposing of two talented Garden State Athletic Conference  rivals.

On Wednesday RCGC rallied for a key 6-5 victory over Mercer Community College and followed with an 8-4 decision over Brookdale on Thursday.

Against Division II Mercer the Roadrunners found themselves in a 5-1 hole before rallying with five unanswered runs for the win. Mike Biasiello came out of the bullpen in the second inning to pitch out of deep trouble before Jack Parkinson added two scoreless innings to earn the win.

In the win over Garden State rival Brookdale, Derek Wakeley and Nick Evangelista combined to limit a solid Jersey Blues' lineup to four runs.

The Runners held a 4-2 lead before breaking it open with four runs in the fifth inning to take an 8-2 lead.

Coach Rob Valli's team improved to 16-3 overall and 5-1 in the conference. The Roadrunners will next travel to Atlantic Cape for a 3:00 pm contest on Friday before hosting ACC in a doubleheader on Saturday.
