Volleyball: McCook Invitational Recap

The Central Community College volleyball team went 2-2 at the McCook Community College Invitational over the weekend. A brief recap of each match is below. The Raiders are 3-5 on the season. CCC will resume play on Wednesday night with a 6 p.m. match at North Platte Community College.

Match 1 vs. Barton (Kan.) Community College

The Cougars shutout the Raiders, 3-0, in opening round action. The final scores were 25-20, 25-21 and 25-15.

Emily Otten led the Raiders in kills with eight, while Chloe Odbert logged 20 assists. Brooklynn Magsamen made 10 digs.

Match 2 vs. Lamar County (Colo.) Community College

For the second time this season, the Raiders handed the Runnin' Lopes a second straight 3-0 shutout. The final scores were 25-20, 28-26 and 25-16.

Otten and Odbert were tops again in kills and assists, with 12 and 31, respectively. Devyn Erickson and Odbert each tallied 11 digs, while Jordan Wegner made three blocks.

Match 3 vs. Butler (Kan.) Community College

The Grizzlies shutout the Raiders to open second-round action. The scores were 25-18, 25-19 and 25-16.

Wegner posted eight kills, while Odbert recorded 16 assists. Magsamen totaled 10 digs.

Match 4 vs. Trinidad State (Colo.) Junior College

The Raiders shutout the Trojans to close out the McCook Community College Invitational. The final scores were 25-13, 25-19 and 25-22.

Erickson logged nine kills, while Odbert finished with 25 assists. Otten made 10 digs, while Rachel Otten made a pair of blocks.

"It was good to see our growth from last weekend to this weekend," said CCC head coach Abby Pollart. "We made some really solid steps in the right direction and continued to play hard each point."
