NIACC women place 4th at Graceland Invite
MARYVILLE, Mo. - The NIACC women's golf team placed fourth with a 417 at the Graceland University Spring Invitational on Friday at the Mozingo Lake Golf Course.
Waldorf University was the team champion with a 381.
NIACC was led by sophomore Karissa Hoon with a 99.
The season-opening invitational was originally scheduled for a two-day event but was shortened to 18 holes to due frigid weather conditions.
"It was a tough day weather-wise for everyone," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. "Overall, I'm fairly pleased with how the girls performed.
"Obviously, our scores need to be better, but I saw more good things than bad from all of them. Karissa Hoone played a solid round as she has been playing pretty well in practice, so it's good to see that carry over."
Also for the Trojans, Paige Danger shot 101, Emma Weiner shot 107 and Cameran Moellers shot 110.
"Again, scores were high all around because of the conditions," Frenz said, "so I think we'll be able to take some positives out of this effort. We just need some nice weather to start getting dialed in."
NIACC returns to action April 1-2 at the Clarke University Spring Invitational.
Team standings - Waldorf 381, Simpson 394, Concordia (Neb.) 409, NIACC 417, Hawkeye CC 423, Peru State 435, Concordia (Wisconsin) 458.
