Golden Eagles Drop Second in a Row

Cheyenne, WY – Despite shooting well from the floor the Golden Eagles lost to the Mavericks from Northwest Kansas Technical College 103-70 at home.

The Laramie County Community College (3-6) women's basketball team got off to a slow start with the Mavericks taking a nine point lead early in the first quarter but the Golden Eagles were able to compete and get within six at the end of the quarter.

The Mavericks fought back and pushed the lead into double digits taking an 11 point lead at the half, 45-34. Caylin Arnold (FR/Strasburg, Colorado) gave the Golden Eagles eight rebounds and seven points to lead the Golden Eagles. Alexus Gash added seven points of her own in the half.

While the second half saw the Golden Eagles come out fighting closing the gap; the Mavericks still had a four point lead approaching midway through the third quarter. NKTC started to drain shots from the behind the arc and gain separation for the victory.

Tran Brown led the Mavericks with 36 points, eight steals, four assists and four rebounds. She was assisted by Juliet James who recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Arion Jackson had 13 points for NKTC.

LCCC was led by Gash, notching a career high 18 points and eight rebounds with the assistance of Madison Hamm with 17 points and seven rebounds. Caylin Arnold posted a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The Golden Eagles will head to the holiday break for a couple of weeks and be back in action entering the New Year at home. They face Little Big Horn College Monday January 2nd at 6 p.m.
