Dilsaver, Paulsen lead Bears team past Blackhawks, 3-0

Freshman Amber Dilsaver of Fort Madison recorded 13 kills and sophomore Madison Paulsen of Council Bluffs came away with 11 as the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) volleyball team defeated Southeastern Community College (SECC), 3-0, October 10 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

The Bears, ranked 20th in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll, won by set scores of 25-21, 25-14, 25-17 to improve to 19-9 overall and 5-2 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

 

Sophomore Peyton Parker of La Porte City and freshman Darian Gray of Mechanicsville had five kills apiece in a match that saw the Bears win behind a .287 hitting percentage. They had 38 kills from 87 attacks with 13 hitting errors.

 

Sophomore Gill Tupper of Nevada led DMACC in assists with 36 and Parker contributed a pair of ace serves. Paulsen led the Bears in digs with 15 and freshmen Daiton Martin of Essex and Keimoney Lang of Iowa City had 10 apiece. Dilsaver had four block assists in the win and Paulsen came away with three.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will play in the Iowa Central Tournament Oct. 12 and 13 at Fort Dodge. The Bears will face Carl Sandburg College (CSC) and Rock Valley College (RVC) on Oct. 12 and will play Cowley County Community College (CCCC) and the Grand View University junior varsity on Oct. 13.
