Lakers drops pair to Mercyhurst NE

Monday, the Lady Lakers (14-10) played host to the Mercyhurst NE Saints. The busy schedule finally caught up to the Lakers as they dropped two games by the scores of 4-1 and 9-2. The Lakers have just finished playing six games in four days; 12 games in the past eight days. Offensively, not much went right for the Lakers as they managed just two hits, both by Sydney Aey, in the game. McKailyn Woodward took the tough luck loss for the Lakers as she tossed seven innings allowing six hits, four runs (three earned), while striking out seven.

In the second game, the teams had a close battle early on. Both teams were held scoreless through three innings. In the fourth inning, the Saints plated two runs as they took advantage of a couple of walks mixed in with two hits. The Saints then blew the game open in the fifth as they scored six runs. Again, a couple of walks, a couple of hits, and an error were enough to put this game out of reach. The Lakers offensive damage all came in the bottom of the fifth as a Danae Scoville single was followed by a Justine Barnes home run. Sydney Aey started on the mound for the Lakers pitching 4.1 innings and allowing six runs in the loss. Abbe Mowrer relieved and went 2.2 innings allowing three runs (zero earned).

Please note the game that was scheduled for Wednesday, April 19 against Walsh University has been cancelled.

Friday, the Lakers jump back into league play as they play host to Sinclair Community College. Games are scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. The Lakers are also scheduled to host non-league foe Potomac State College from West Virginia on Sunday (4/23). The games are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
